I was born in Bombay, India in 1968. At 1 ½ years I contracted polio and due to severe hardships in India at that time I was sent to live in an orphanage. During my early years in the orphanage I kept myself occupied by playing on pots and pans because musical instruments were not available. In 1979 I was adopted by a wonderful family, Ross and Neola Sicilia, from Vancouver, WA who welcomed me into their family. I was one of 7 children, 5 of whom were adopted from India, Guatemala and Calcutta. When I first came to America my family saw my potential in music and my parents gave me my first conga drum from Mexico. I taught myself how to play and I entertained myself and them for several years. When I became older my parents again bought me my first drumset and that's when I found my calling in life. I played in several small bands in my home town, then in 1990 I packed up my one suitcase full of clothes and my drums and I told my parents I was going on a journey to pursue my love for music. Between the years 1990 and 2000 I gained my experience by playing percussion and drumset for several club bands and recorded for several artists. In 1996 I put out my first solo recording featuring only percussion instruments which I titled Planet Percussion. It has always been my dream and my vision to create a band using only percussion instruments and featuring world music combining art and dance, so it was in 1998 that I created the Planet Percussion Band.
