About
Single parents are often stereotyped as being less than and having an "alternative" lifestyle. As a single parent myself, I see this as a misconception created from the idea that being married is the ideal way to raise children. There is no more ideal way to raise children than a loving parent or parents being present and fully engaged. I feel that if this is achieved, the rest will just fall into place, whether there are two parents or one. I believe it is our perception of our situation that dictates how things will turn out. If we are confident and feel supported, we can parent successfully on our own. This site has been created for single parents and their children. It is meant to be a source of comfort, support, and information. My goal is to blow away the stigma of single parenting as less than and to create a community for those of us who know that we can be equal to or greater than.
The vision of Single Parents Support network is to create a support system for single parents that alleviates the feeling of isolation and offers solutions to common problems associated with a lack of support, both financial and emotional.
Mission Statement:
To offer resources in all areas of single parenting in addition to creating new resources in areas where they are still needed.
