"join us in caring for our quality of life..." Current Status
Washington State has recently invested over $17 million dollars in Heritage Park and related amenities. Further the city of Olympia, with the assistance of a substantial grant from a private (party, foundation ?) has developed an interactive water fountain and acquired property to connect the Capitol Campus, Heritage Park, and Percival Landing, which supports the broader long standing community and State vision of protecting the views to and from the State Capitol Campus, etc. The city of Olympia has committed with its Fountain Block Park and related plans as well as a proposed bond proposal to raise millions in funding to acquire and develop adjacent property to the new Fountain Park for an isthmus park on the Eastern end of the Isthmus. (need link to map of Isthmus area)
The Olympia Capitol Park Foundation has always intended that development of the view protecting park on the Western Isthmus be a coordinated effort between the Foundation, the city and state government with the Park Board Foundation assisting with private fund raising. Accordingly, this is the first step in inaugurating a fund raising campaign to work with city and state government to acquire and develop the four parcels of property on the Western Isthmus that the developer is attempting to have rezoned.
