CROP Hunger Walk
First Sunday in May
People from every faith tradition and walk of life are concerned about hunger. Since 1980, Interfaith Works has co-sponsored the Thurston County CROP Hunger Walk to raise funds for local hunger relief organizations and to fund projects which fight hunger around the world.
For more information about CROP Hunger Walk or what it means to be a recruiter, go to the CROP program page.
Earth Stewardship Committee
The committee meets at 12 noon on the second Wednesday of most months at Traditions Fair Trade Cafe 300 5th Ave SW, Olympia (downtown at Water St). To get more information about the committee, please email LeslieHR AT aol.com [replace AT with @]
Interfaith Women’s Shelter
The Interfaith Women’s Shelter now provides refuge for homeless women throughout the year. Single homeless women in need of shelter should call the SideWalk Advocacy Center Shelter HelpLine at 360-515-5620 Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to be screened. A shelter volunteer will also be available nightly between 7:00-9:00 pm only to arrange urgent access to the women's shelter.
Faith communities house the shelter on a rotating basis and it is staffed by volunteer hosts. Other volunteers do laundry, move shelter materials from location to location and provide transportation. The program welcomes volunteers and donations of new twin sheets and pillowcases, as well as toiletry items. Please contact the Interfaith Works office for more information, to donate, or to volunteer.
Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration
Each November, Interfaith Works hosts a community Thanksgiving gathering that celebrates the strength and joy that our faith diversity brings to our community. Representatives from many different faiths share stories, music, dance, and readings from their spiritual traditions.
Moments of Blessing
Moments of Blessing reclaim the space where a homicide has occurred with a brief service is designed to support the victim's neighbors, family and friends, and the wider community, helping to bring closure to the traumatic event.
World Sacred Music Festival
This program, started in 2005, celebrates the sacred through uplifting music of the world. The first two festivals were a terrific success, with attendees enjoying music and workshops of many faith traditions.
