Join Oly’s Public Art Movement, June 23!

Ten months ago, four women came together to facilitate public art in an Olympia community space while completing their AmeriCorps service. What began as that passionate brainstorm has ripened into a community happening. On Saturday, June 23, neighbors will gather in Olympia’s northwest neighborhood to create and celebrate art and community by transforming one of their intersections. This event will be the most recent manifestation of Olympia’s rich and burgeoning community-art movement.

As the project’s vision continues to mature, the project will certainly involve cob construction and street art, similar to the mandala near the downtown Olympia Timberland Library at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Adams Street. Most importantly, it will be a time for neighbors to gather and artfully care for their community space. If you would like to be a part of this public-art celebration, contact Grace at gdiehl@tnc.org for more information.
